Charity Dash for Berkshire Search and Rescue Dogs

Judith Oak, a member of Berkshire Search and Rescue Dogs for the past 2 years, will be taking part in the Windsor Half Marathon on Sunday 26th November 2010 in a bid to collect sponsorship for the Team.

The aim of the charity is to use highly trained dogs, handlers and support technicians to search for and locate lost or missing vulnerable people and reunite them with their loved ones.  Berkshire Search and Rescue Dogs is now the biggest lowland search dog team in the UK and this of course means that the cost of running the Team has increased greatly. The Team receives no government funding or grants and so all the costs and expenses are paid for by fundraising, sponsorship and donations.  All members are volunteers who give up their time for nothing and are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.  So far this year, the Team have been called out assist with approximately 30 searches.
