I will be taking part in the Windsor Half Marathon on Sunday 26th September 2010 and will be collecting sponsorship for the charity Berkshire Search & Rescue Dogs.

I have been a member of Berkshire Search & Rescue Dogs for over 2 years now and have seen the Team double in size in that time.  The aim of the charity is to use highly trained dogs, handlers and support technicians to search for and locate, lost or missing vulnerable people and reunite them with their loved ones.  We are now the biggest lowland search dog team in the UK but of course this means the cost of running the Team has increased.  We receive no government funding or grants and all the Team’s costs and expenses are paid for by fundraising, sponsorship and donations.  All our members are volunteers who give up their time for nothing and are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.  So far this year, we have been called out to nearly 30 searches.
